NEW Accelerated Pathway: RDN to MSAN

The University of New England is excited to present a brand new pathway for Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) to earn their Master of Science in Applied Nutrition (MSAN) 100% online. Current RDNs will now be eligible to earn their master’s degree more quickly than the traditional pathway.

This new accelerated pathway is designed exclusively for current Registered Dietitian Nutritionists who are interested in earning their master’s degree. By simply providing your RDN license during the admissions process you’ll be able to enroll in this shorter pathway and earn your Master of Science in Applied Nutrition more quickly. Each course in the program is 100% online with no campus visits required.

Why get your Master of Science in Applied Nutrition?

Beginning January 1, 2024, a minimum of a master’s degree will be an eligibility requirement to take the CDR dietetic registration exam, which is the exam needed to attain RDN licensure.

By enrolling in this shorter pathway through UNE Online, you will be able to earn your master’s degree in as little as sixteen months, completely online, and remain competitive in the field as more and more entry-level clinicians will have a master’s degree and RDN credentials.

Achieve up to 405 hours of CPEUs

Over the duration of the MSAN program, current RDNs will have the opportunity to earn up to 405 Continuing Professional Education Units (CPEUs).

Complete in as few as sixteen months

This 27-credit Master of Science in Applied Nutrition consists of nine online courses: four core courses, three electives, one co-requisite, and one capstone course. For a complete listing of MSAN courses and course descriptions, click here.

Three 3-credit courses will be waived upon enrollment in the accelerated pathway because of the unique educational and practical experience RDNs have. These courses are APN 600, Trends and Issues in Nutrition; APN 615, Human Metabolism; and APN 730 Medical Nutrition Therapy.
