Today's Dietitian Webinar, Sponsored by UNE Online

The Master of Science in Applied Nutrition program at UNE Online is proud to have sponsored a free webinar with the nutrition experts at Today’s Dietitian on July 11, 2018. We identified and shared tips on interviewing from the other side of the mic. This webinar was hosted by CNN executive producer and correspondent, Carolyn O’Neil. As registered nutritionists become more involved in media, it’s important to learn the skills needed to become an expert.

Increasingly many RDNs, rather than being the interviewees, are leading audio and/or video recorded interviews for their personal brands, company websites, blogs, and podcasts. Conducting a media interview with a guest expert takes skill and concentration to guide the interviewee to share the best information and insight within a specific time frame. Former CNN executive producer and correspondent, RDN Carolyn O’Neil, shares tips for successful interviewing from the other side of the mic.

Webinar objectives

  • Identify emerging media interviewer roles of RDNs
  • Understanding principles of preparing the interview by identifying key questions, setting, and time of interview.
  • Apply techniques for creating an atmosphere of trust and respect
  • Ask open-ended questions and productive follow up questions to reinforce topic
  • Identify missing information post-interview to resent a balanced viewpoint on a topic
