The Benefits of Complimentary HIMSS Membership for Students and How to Join
As a HIMSS Approved Education Partner (AEP), the University of New England can now provide students complimentary membership to the global Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) organization. Moreover, through HIMSS’s Organizational Affiliate program, UNE Online can offer staff and students a plethora of resources they can use to succeed at their jobs and in the industry. This partnership enables UNE Online students to get hands-on experience, network, and even contribute to the industry while they’re completing their degree program.

HIMSS is a global non-profit made up of more than 70,000 global individual members, 630 corporate members, over 450 non-profit organizations. Through the coordinated efforts of thousands of volunteers, HIMSS provides advising services and resources that connect digital innovations with improved healthcare access and health quality.
Students are encouraged to take advantage of all the member perks included in the individual membership, a $199 value, to broaden their education, expand their professional network, and discover career opportunities.

As an enrolled UNE Online student, you can create your complimentary HIMSS Membership by visiting the HIMSS website and following the steps below.
Join UNE Online on November 15th for the New England HIMSS Maine Conference, where attendance is free with your HIMSS Membership. The New England HIMSS Chapter, in partnership with UNE Online, will present health information experts to discuss population health, value-based reimbursement, predictive analytics care, and more!

Steps to Create your Complimentary UNE Student HIMSS Membership
Open the HIMSS website at: https://marketplace.himss.org/membership/oa-sign-up
Click “Click Here” under Student Individual Organizational Affiliate to create your membership.
On the Welcome to HIMSS page, click on “Create Account Now.”
Enter your student email address and all other information marked with an asterisk. For Job Category, you can select “Others Allied to the Field” and then “Student.” Choose a username and password, and then click the “Create Now” button at the bottom of the page.
On the Organizational Affiliate Membership Sign-Up page, click “Join.”
On your Membership Profile Page, you can click edit to edit your address, contact or salutation information. Make sure to update your address info or you will not be able to proceed. After you have edited your information, click “Next.”
On the Student Eligibility page, please fill out all information that is indicated with an asterisk. If you are a full-time graduate student enrolled with less than nine hours, to ensure you get a complimentary membership, be sure to choose nine-to-eleven program hours enrolled. Under Proof of Student Status, please upload your documentation of full-time enrollment. Once you have filled out the page, select “Save” at the bottom of the page.
You are now set up with a HIMSS membership! From this page, you can update your complimentary chapter, join a professional community or manage your email and newsletter preferences.
