Dr. Dan Mickool is a graduate of the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) program at the College of Graduate and Professional Studies, and is currently the Director of Continuing Education, as well as a Clinical Instructor in Pharmacy Practice in the School of Pharmacy at the University of New England.
Recently, Dr. Mickool was selected to serve on The Global Confederation for Interprofessional Education & Collaborative Practice – Policy Development Work Group. Dr. Mickool is the only pharmacist in the group, and just one of five Americans among 35 international members.
The committee holds a monthly virtual meeting and is charged by the World Health Organization with the following topics in 2019:
The work group is expected to update these documents by December 2019 and will allow time for public comment. Of note, these policy statements are embedded in healthcare frameworks for nations across the globe (including the U.S.), academic environments, and other places of employment.
A completed framework will be presented to an international audience at the All Together Better Health Conference in Qatar in 2020. Dr. Mickool has been asked to contribute specifically to areas of collaborative practices that will benefit existing workforces and health systems.
