Meet Our Team: Zachary York
Meet Zac York, a Student Support Specialist for our Graduate Programs in Public Health (GPPH). Zac started at UNE Online about a year ago and he’s been having a great time ever since. Zac and his team have a lot of fun, and he genuinely enjoys working with them.
Zac’s great listening skills, positive attitude and sense of humor make him a strong asset to his team members as well as the students he works with.
At UNE Online students are our top priority, and their success is what drives each and every one of us to do what we do. We’d like to share a little bit about the people that are dedicated to making that happen every day.
What do you do at UNE Online?
I’m a Student Support Specialist. I help students navigate through the program and facilitate their success in any way I can.
Where are you from?
I’m from the lovely, dazzling city of Waterville, ME.
What’s your favorite dessert?
Chocolate peanut butter cake (or anything with chocolate and peanut butter in it).
What is the first thing you do in the morning?
I usually find some good music to listen to as I get ready. This week my go to has been R.E.M.’s ‘Automatic for the People’
What’s the best professional advice you’ve received?
What’s on your desk?
It’s pretty sparse. Just a few sticky notes, notepads, a photo of my girlfriend and my cat, and currently some Christmas lights! ‘Tis the season!
What’s your favorite part of what you do here?
I work with a great team. I’ve never worked with such a fun and funny group of people in my life. I’m also extremely lucky to work with the students in the public health program. They are all so motivated to make a difference in the world. My co-workers keep me laughing while the students keep me inspired.
If you could eat one thing for the rest of your life what would it be?
Drunken Noodles from Thai Essan. They do a great job and it’s in walking distance from the office.
What’s your favorite emoji?
Eye rolling emoji 🙄
Lord of the Rings
What’s your motto?
I have no clue!! Haha (that’s not the motto… I just can’t think of one)
What’s your favorite thing about living in Maine?
I moved back to Maine from Vermont for many reasons, but my favorite thing about living here is the friendly people. Otherwise, the ocean is pretty amazing as well!
Do you have a secret talent?
I play the drums. It’s a secret in the sense that I haven’t played for a few years.
What’s your ideal Sunday?
My ideal Sunday would involve relaxing with coffee and some music in the morning, brunch (either in or out), a walk or hike somewhere new, a Patriots game on TV, and a good book before bed.
