At UNE Online students are our top priority, and their success is what drives each and every one of us to do what we do. We’d like to share a little bit about the people that are dedicated to making that happen every day.
What do you do at UNE Online?
I am the Senior Student Support Specialist for our extremely popular online Science Prerequisite courses. Most of the students I work with are trying to fulfill a requirement to get into some type of health professions program. Knowing that I’m a part of helping people reach such a significant goal makes even the more challenging days worth it.
Where are you from?
Most recently, Austin, Texas. I moved to Maine about five years ago, but most of my childhood was spent in South Korea where my parents still live and work.
What’s your favorite dessert?
Snickerdoodles! If you’re out of that, I’ll take some coffee cake.
What is the first thing you do in the morning?
I am definitely not a morning person. It’s a good day if I remember to comb my hair.
What’s the best professional advice you’ve received?
I definitely subscribe to the “dress for the job you want” motto.
What’s the latest lesson you learned?
It’s the same lesson that I have to relearn over and over. My wife is always right. I hope she reads this.
What’s on your desk?
I have more clutter on my desk than I care to admit, but as long as my coffee mug is within reach, I can make it through the day.
What’s your favorite part about what you do here?
I love coming up with ideas for how to expand our reach. The online pre-health courses are very popular, but there is always the opportunity for more growth.
If you could eat one thing for the rest of your life what would it be?
What’s your favorite emoji?
Mr. Shades 😎
“Trickster Makes This World” by Lewis Hyde.
What’s your favorite thing about living in Maine?
I love the leaves and mountains in the fall, and I have also really come to love the coast and beaches here as well.
Do you have a secret talent?
I like to have fun with my turntables and DJ setup. I’m also pretty good at Scrabble.
What’s your ideal Sunday?
Take the dog for a nice long walk and then eat lunch at a place I’ve never been to before with my lovely wife and 8-year-old son.
