Our community of practice, Ed.D., is designed to engage individuals who are active leaders in their organizations, who seek to create equity and opportunity for peers, clients, and community members, and who apply theory to practice every day. That is, transformative leaders and learners.

May you also have balance in all things. The latter is the most challenging for many of us, as we have arrived where we are through much hard work, focus, and persistence. To take a quiet moment before entering a challenging meeting may not be our first instinct! Do take some quiet moments over the next few months to examine your assumptions about what “real” leaders do; you might be surprised!

One of the Ed.D. program texts is by John Heider: The Tao of Leadership. Based on Buddhist philosophy, Heider’s re-framing of the Tao into everyday English offers simple, yet grounding advice to support each of us learning to appreciate our wisdom: to know ourselves as learners and leaders first, before presuming to “lead” others.
